The Key to Being a Hero is the 13h episode in Season 2 of Mighty Med. It first aired on April 15, 2015.


The Key Keeper VIII announces his retirement, and Skylar and Kaz both express interest in becoming his replacement. Meanwhile, Oliver meets his mother's new boyfriend for the first time--but he's in for a shock.

  • For unknown reasons, when Skylar threw a recycling bin in anger, the paper didn't fall out until the bin landed.
  • This is the first appearance of Oliver's mom, Bridget.
  • It is revealed that Oliver's dad lives in England.
  • Horace gets engaged to Oliver's mom.
  • It is revealed that there are 8 Key Keepers and 9 Key Keepers when the oringinal Key Keeper retired. Other evidence is that the 8th Key Keeper said his mentor was the 7th Key Keeper.
  • Skylar was almost killed by Slaughter Master, who thought that she had the Key of Steel.
    • Kaz actually stole the Key of Steel from her and used it himself to defeat Slaughter Master and save Skylar's life.
  • Kaz temporarily gains superpowers for the first time in this episode.
  • Kaz proves to Skylar at the end that he is worthy to be the key keeper, even though none of them gets to keep the key at the end.
    • They couldn't keep the key because the Key Keeper wanted to date Solar Flare, who only dated superheroes.
