"Hello?" Said the voice I needed to hear in the phone.
"Hi mama." I whisper.
"Hi Victoria, how is everything?" My mama asks.It feels good to call her mama instead of mom, like I can still be close with her.
"Not good, Remember why you left Dad?" I ask. Truth is, he wasn't only a child abuser, he domestically abused mama.
"I remember, Why do you ask?"
"Because he's not only back on the drinking, he's been doing Meth and Crack. And beating us for random reasons, like waking him up or braking things. And he's a major part on why Oliver overdosed." She didn't say any thing for a while. She was probably just trying to accept what she heard.
"I'm going to have to report this, then I'll come get you two. Hang in there, I'm getting in my car now."
"Ok, see you then. Bye mama, I love you."
"Love you too dear." And for the first time since I was 5, I felt truly safe.
